In Support of Anna Raccoon

Anyone who is familiar with Anna's website will know that she is a decent lady. You will be similarly outraged at way the Libertarian Party UK has treated her.

Go see.

And then go tell.

  1. I'm absolutely crushed by this.

It's a tragic shame for Anna and family and a tragic shame for all of us who put time, interest and effort into the party and saw it as a rallying point.

  2. Katabasis, joining LPUK was on my agenda. I actually joined UKIP for the first time last year and was about sign up to LPUK, but then found out it was against both constitutions to hold more than one membership of a party.

It's really disheartening for us who thought that the party could be something that stood up to exactly this sort of behaviour. It shows us again the lesson that any system of power must have proper checks and balances else someone, at sometime will abuse the position.

As for Anna, how much **** does she have to put with?

  3. It looks like the sensible thing to do now will be for us libertarian types to join UKIP and shore up the libertarian contingent there.

And you're right, this shambles runs completely contrary to the spirit and principles upon which the party was founded.

I frankly can't believe how much **** Anna has put up with either. The fact she's still going strong is an inspiration.

  6. Katabasis,

I'm 'fighting' on several fronts - UKIP is one of them.

As for Anna, I concur completely.

  7. I joined UKIP as I saw it as the only viable alternative. A way to force a new kingmaker onto the political scene to replace those insufferable Limp Dumb idiots

  8. Akvavitix, those we the reasons that I joined (as well as being anti-EU). But I don't have much faith in our system and believe it to be broken - hence the exploration of Lawful Rebellion and Freeman options (and my emigration this year).

I'll continue to fight on different fronts until I'm clear about where I'm best placed to make a difference (however small) for the future of my children.

  9. Is it ironic that Andrew Wither's blog is named Looking for a Voice? Or am I missing something here?

  11. Hi FAV,

If you found inspite of your membership of UKIP, that your vote had more chance of making an impact if it went to LPUK, would you vote tactically?

I assume that as a member it is expected that you will vote UKIP at all times. Yet Yours is more of an affilliation or conferderate approach (IE: you and other Libertarians are never going to be party hacks in the old fashioned sence of party membership.)What does Libertarianism (the theory rather than the Party constitution) have to say on this? It seems counter to the spirit of libertarian thinking to be bound rigidly to a party line, especially one which runs counter to the benefit of individuals. Or am I straying into Anarchism here?
